in recognition of his outstanding contributions during and after his PhD work to the identification and validation of breast cancer-associated biomarkers, and the strong motivation he has shown to translate research into clinical reality.
The European Young Researchers’ Award is granted to doctoral candidates and early post doctorates for demonstrating outstanding research performance as well as deep insight of the European Research Area. It is the only award which inspires doctoral candidates to think ‘European’ by incorporating the European level into their research. The Award is granted each year, however, the prize-giving-ceremony is held biennially at the Euroscience Open Forum where the two recipients will present their work.
• European funded projects as well as national funded projects with a European theme or/and participation from different European countries are welcome.
• The candidate does not need to have a European nationality but he/she should work in a European country.
• The definition of young researcher in this context is all persons preparing a PhD, with two years of experience, until five years after the end of the PhD.
• The candidate should be maximum 35 years old
• The project language should be English.
• Cover page.
• From the candidate; up to two pages A4 the project and its European dimension, plus a 1 page CV, including statement of prizes/awards already received. These should all be in the form of a single PDF file no more than 1 MB. Two letters in support of the nomination relating to the specific project. These letters should be from individuals well qualified in the field, at least one of whom are not associated with the project itself.
• From the person nominating the candidate; a letter of support, sent independently, consisting of no more than 1 page A4, describing why the candidate deserved this award. This letter should explicitly comment on the publications from the project work, and also on any unusual circumstances, including duration of study.

Nominations will be evaluated by a committee including members of the
Euroscience Governing Board as well as persons linked to Euroscience in
different ways. Since members serving on this committee may not be
experts in the nominee's field, it is important that nominations be
submitted in a language understandable to scientists from other
disciplines.
Award Procedures and Conditions
The prize-giving-ceremony will be held biannually in
the ESOF city in the frame of the Career Programme, which is a
continuous part of the ESOF editions. However, if there is a lack of
outstanding candidates, an award may not be granted.
Budget/Funding
The Award consists of a Medal and a Certificate. A
part of the award will be monetary in the form of a travel and
accommodation grant for the stay in the ESOF city.
