WorkGroup Activity Report

Background and History

Technology, as a socio-economic phenomenon, challenges a dynamic and complex pattern of associated mechanisms for spatial and temporal flow of its own: Technological innovation via co-ordination of R&D is subject to transfer of hardware, information and knowledge. While hardware transfer is interpreted as transfer of equipment, materials and information systems, the transfer of information comprises data, documentation, software, standards, specifications, licenses and guidelines. Subsequently, transfer of knowledge requires a holistic understanding of both origins and focal impacts of technology in progress, considering the competence to plan, manage and evaluate applications, skills and know-how.

In order to strengthen RTD objectives in Europe - from the top-level perspective of a scientific community the Working Group for Technology Transfer in Europe was founded on May 1st, 1998 under the shelter of Euroscience.

Our Commitment

Following objectives deliver the general framework of action of the working group:

  1. Initiation and strengthening of links between international RTD communities and Euroscience
  2. Support and promote concrete and case-oriented co-operation between scientists, researchers and the sector of technological application within Euroscience
  3. Improve both information and knowledge dissemination on RTD within Euroscience
  4. Design of technology transfer channels for young scientists in Europe
  5. Establishing and maintenance of regional information servers and corespondents for technological transfer via Internet

A tight co-operation and active linkage to other working groups of Euroscience is regarded to serve as the fundamental leitmotiv of ESWGTT in order to ensure optimal retrieval and transfer of knowledge-based information.

Our Triadic Program

The Innovation Program

Within the innovation program we look forward to consider economical, political, ecological and S&T aspects. Different topics are being considered at the present:

  • Venture-Capital Research and Sart-up Promotion
  • Research on Transitional Systems of Innovation
  • Financing for Development Research
  • Joint-Venture Management
  • Promotion of Affiliate Partnerships
  • Strategy and Technology Consultation

The Information Program

Our information program incorporates two main projects:

  • The Edited Mailing-List (send a subscribe message to info@technology-transfer.net)
  • European Technology Transfer Directory (ETTD) (in construction)
  • TTLinkage Electronic Bulletin

Network Management

Network management is the central task of the third program. The design and maintenance of a high performance TT network within Euroscience is the headline of this program. This strategy of networking with particular emphasis on internet facilities should tunnel geographic boarders (East/West, North/South) and enhance confidence versus synergy (Confidence Management). Establishing and maintenance of regional technology synergy centers as well as internet-based mutual support of scientists, consultants, investors and industrials on the technology transfer and implementation sector is our part of our day to day job.

A Great team

With about 72 associates, 27 consultants spread from West to East Europe and offices in Hamburg, Heidelberg, St. Petersburg, Kiev and Tbilisi, our team of technologists is still growing from day to day. For specific information please contact our Hamburg office (Sam Vaseghi, info@technology-transfer.net).
