SCIENT is a European University – Business Alliance aiming to foster young SCIentists’ ENTrepreneurial spirit. The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, started 1 January 2015 and will run for 3 years.
SCIENT will launch an innovative entrepreneurship programme for PhD STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students and graduates that will focus on the development of their transversal skills and provide them with a new professional path.
SCIENT means knowledgeable, aware. This is the ultimate aim of this project: to make doctoral students and graduates aware of their career options, not limiting their prospects by considering only an academic/researcher career but being well aware about the possibility of utilising their research findings and starting their own company.
By identifying the strengths, weaknesses, gaps and best practices of existing entrepreneurship programmes, a unique and top quality programme will emerge. Currently there is no such programme in the EU. This will be pilot tested in 7 countries (CY, PT, ES, IT, LT, UK, MT) and offered to interested stakeholders once finalized.
A unique training opportunity for STEM PhD students and recent graduates is offered for free and will take place in UK, Lithuania, Italy, Cyprus, Malta, Spain and Portugal in various dates between June and September. You may download the programme for each country via project website. More information about the project, its objectives and training content can be found in the attached document and on the project’s website and social media pages.
