The EuroScience ESOF Committee is a high-level task force designated by the EuroScience Governing Board and charged with defining general expectations and key objectives for future editions of the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF), as well as selection of future ESOF host cities. The expectations and objectives defined by the ESOF Committee are intended to ensure that the ESOF conference series remains attractive for researchers and science professionals, and also that the ESOF events fulfil their mission to be a true venue for open exchange and debate regarding science and its role in society.
The Committee is comprised of 12 members, of which six EuroScience Governing Board members and six external members representing major stakeholders for scientific research in Europe (universities, research performing organisations, national research funding agencies, research-intensive businesses and philanthropic foundations).
In its first meeting on March 10th, hosted by the University of Glasgow/UK, the Committee defined criteria for adapting ESOF to the expectations and objectives of a highly interactive 21st century event, along with the desired characteristics for the selection of potential future host cities. On the basis of the outcomes of the meeting, the President of EuroScience and the EuroScience Office have been charged by the Committee with development of an open and flexible procedure for selecting the host cities for ESOF2024 and ESOF2026.
