Ismail Serageldin discharged: a voice for tolerant Islam

On December 26, 2017 charges against Ismail Serageldin were dismissed.

He had been accused of a variety of charges only a few of which were upheld during his trial in July 2017.

Ismail Serageldin has had a longstanding career as e.g. a vice-president of the WorldBank and chair of the CGIAR (the international centres of agricultural research). He has re-founded the famous Library of Alexandria. Ismail Serageldin is well known for spreading the message that Islam is a religion of tolerance. EuroScience welcomes his discharge. We need his voice in the ongoing international debate about freedom of expression, not only but also in the context of Islam.
