The winners of the European Science TV & New Media Festival announced

The festival and Awards evening composed of a rich screening programme and talks was held betwen the 1st and 4th December 2016 in Lisbon, Portugal.

The main aim of this festival is to promote interest in Science and Technology especially among younger generation but also to reward scientists and producers of scientific documentaries for their diligent work and merits.

The organizers are proud to announce the eight winners in the following categories.

  • TV Documentary:
    The First Eight Weeks from the series Countdown to Life, BBC
  • TV Drama:
    The Lost Son, from series The Specialists  UFA Fiction for ZDF Germany
  • TV General programming:
    Bodytech from the series 10 Things to Know About… + Fat is bad for your Health. Or is it? from the series Grey Matter,  by New Decade TV for RTE Ireland
  • New Media:
    Microfluidics and Microbioreactors by a German led consortium in an EC Project
  • Women in Science:
    The Ocean Sampling Day 2014 – A Global Scientific Effort To Study Our Ocean, a European project supported by the EC
  • Environment:
    The Himalayas, The Abode of Snow from the series Planet Ice, by Mona Lisa Production for ARTE France
  • Medical Research:
    Brain Power – The Key to Consciousness, A Journey Into the Stuff of Thoughts, by Scientifilms for ARTE France
  • The Physics Prize:
    Britain’s Nuclear Secrets,  Inside Sellafield,  from BBC
