Which will be the next European City of Science to host the EuroScience Open Forum in 2020? After careful consideration, the ESOF Supervisory Committee has published a shortlist of cities who will be asked to submit a full bid to host ESOF 2020.
The next EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) will be held in Toulouse from 9 to 14 July 2018. ESOF is a biennial interdisciplinary general science meeting and the highlight of the European science calendar.
ESOF is the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe. The 8th edition of ESOF will take place in Toulouse, France, from 9 till 14 July 2018. The call for proposal of sessions for ESOF 2018 will be open from January to June 2017 and will be available at www.esof.eu. ESOF is largely open to international participation.
France will host the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) in 2018 and Toulouse becomes the European City of Science. Supported by the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research, the Université Fédérale Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées works in partnership with the Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée, Toulouse Métropole and the Toulouse Chamber of Commerce and Industry to create a unique and memorable event around the motto “Sharing Science: Towards New Horizons”.
On 8 April 2016, a kick-off was given to a cycle of meetings in the framework of the preparation for ESOF 2018 in Toulouse. These meetings are dedicated to all current and potential partners with the purpose of creating synergies between scientific, cultural, political and economic communities at local and national levels. Over 170 participants attended the event, which took place at Pierre Baudis Congress Centre.

The Université Fédérale Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées, together with an impressive number of national and regional institutions and partners, has worked hard to put together a very convincing bid.
